Becky Celorio placed third and set the Hofstra Women's Cross Country 5K record in leading the Pride to a fourth-place finish at the Brown University Rothenberg Run at Goddard State Park Friday afternoon.
Celorio placed third in the meet in 17:42 to top Mary Sullivan's 10-year old record that was set at the Leeber Invitational at Fairfield University. It was the second time that Celorio has led the Pride this season.
Freshman
Felicia Banda placed 14th for the Pride in a season-best 18:05. That time is now the third-best 5K time in school history. Graduate-student
Angelica Peck was Hofstra third runner, placing 19th in a season-best 18:18, which is now the fourth-best time in Pride history.
Freshman Marlah Givehand clocked a season-best  time of 19:15 to finish 46th while sophomore
Emily McLean was 51st in a personal-record 19:41. Sophomore
Amanda Sullivan was 58th in a personal-best 20:01 and freshman
Alli Bacher was 61st in a season-best 20:15. Sophomore
Megan Tidey placed 64th in a personal-record 20:46 while newcomer
Marissa Cadieux was 67th in a season-best 22:12.
Hofstra finished in fourth-place with 103 points in the meet that was won by the host Bears of Brown with 43 points. Stony Brook was second with 46 points and Vermont was third with 83 points. Stony Brook junior Elizabeth Caldwell was the individual winner in 17:37.
The Pride will compete next at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Saturday, October 31 in Charleston, South Carolina.
