3/22/2014 8:15:00 PM

Albany, NY – The Hofstra Women's Lacrosse team dropped a 10-5 decision to Albany on Saturday afternoon as the Great Danes jumped out to a 6-1 lead after 32 minutes of play and never looked back in posting the five-goal victory.

Hofstra falls to 5-5 with the loss, while Albany keeps its perfect record intact as the Great Danes are now 7-0 this season. Albany is receiving votes in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll.

Sophomore attacker Emily Considine led Hofstra with a pair of goals, while the Pride also got markers from junior attacker Brittain Altomare, junior defender April Iannetta and senior attacker Julia Riemer.

After Albany scored the first two goals of the contest, Considine would get Hofstra on the scoreboard as she notched her eighth goal of the season with 23:48 left on the first half clock to make it 2-1 in favor of the Great Danes.

The Great Danes would eventually take a 4-1 lead as Albany got goals from Dakotah Savitcheff and Allie Phelan after Considine's first goal to take the three-goal advantage into the break.

Albany pushed its lead to five goals as Rachel Bowles and Ariana Parker scored for the Great Danes in the first two minutes of the second stanza to stake the home squad to a 6-1 lead.

Hofstra would finally string together back-to-back goals as Considine scored her second of the contest and was followed by Iannetta at the 16:44 mark to make it 6-3 and give Hofstra some momentum heading into the game's final 15 minutes.

The game would be scoreless for the next seven-plus minutes until Albany would put the game out of reach with consecutive goals from Parker and Bowles that ultimately made it 8-3 with 6:56 left in regulation.

The Pride would make one final push in the game as Riemer scored her second of the season and Altomare tallied her 23rd of the 2014 campaign to make it 8-5 with 3:20 left. That would be as close as the Pride would get, though, as Albany scored the game's final two goals to account for the final margin.

For Altomare, the goal marked her 28th straight game with at least a point. Iannetta added four draw controls, three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the game.

Junior goalie Kelsey Gregerson tied her career-high with 12 saves in the game. She established the career-high in the Pride's last game against Temple on Wednesday.

Parker led Albany with four goals, while Bowles, Phelan and Savitcheff each posted two goals in the game. Kathleen Lennon had four draw controls and Christine Johnson led the Great Danes with four ground balls. Anna Berman had 11 saves for Albany.

Hofstra returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Rutgers at 7 p.m.
