Hempstead, NY – Hofstra freshman Carys Swan has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Rookie of the Week for the period ending September 7.

Swan, a native of Kelowna, BC, Canada, has led the 3-1 Hofstra Pride to a three-game winning streak including two victories last week. The first-year standout came off the bench in the season opener at 12th-ranked Albany and has started the last three contests.

Last week, Swan recorded three saves and picked up her second victory of the season in Hofstra's 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart University in New Haven last Friday. Two days later, Swan made a season-high six saves in the Pride's 2-1 victory at Yale.

Swan now has a 1.67 GAA and .684 save percentage while playing 251 minutes in four games this season.

The Hofstra Field Hockey team returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 10) when the Fairfield Stags come to the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium for the Pride home opener. Game time is 3 p.m.
