St. Bonaventure, NY – Kerry Cummings scored her first goal of the season in the 37th minute for the only goal of the contest as Hofstra notched its fourth straight win with a 1-0 victory at St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon.
The Pride improved to 5-3 with the win, while the Bonnies fell to 1-5-1 with their third straight loss.
Cummings gave Hofstra all it would need as she headed in a Ruby Staplehurst corner kick at the 36:42 mark. Hofstra dominated play in the contest, posting 13 shots to St. Bonaventure's four and holding an 11-4 advantage in corner kicks. But goalkeepers Megan Junker and Christina Sarokon kept the Bonnies in the game as the duo combined for eight saves.
Pride starting keeper Emily Morphitis left with an injury in the eighth minute, but freshman Friederike Mehring came on and made one save to post her first collegiate win.
Sam Scolarici led the Pride with four shots, but saw her streak of five consecutive games with goals come to an end. Chloe Dale contributed three shots, while Cummings and Lulu Echeverry added two apiece.
Hofstra returns to action next Saturday, September 21 at Saint Joseph's. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
