Hofstra Battles Brown To 1-1 Draw

Providence, RI - Mathilde Braithwaite's second half goal gave Hofstra a 1-0 lead but Brown netted the equalizer with just under four minutes to play as the teams settled for a 1-1 draw Thursday night at Stevenson-Pincince Field. The tie was Hofstra's third in a row.

The Pride moved to 3-1-3 on the season, while Brown is 4-1-2. The tie was Brown's second straight.

Braithwaite created the Hofstra scoring chance as she intercepted a clearing pass attempt by Brown keeper Bella Schopp just outside of the 18 yard box and sent a shot into the open net at the 71:21 mark. The goal was Braithwaite's first of the season.

The Bears were able to knot the score at 86:12 with a set piece goal. Brooke Birtwistle sent a long free kick into the box that Naya Cardoza headed past Pride keeper Lilly Bailey

Bailey matched her season-high with five saves, while Schopp made four saves for the Bears.

Hofstra returns home Sunday to host Dartmouth at Captains Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.

Notes:
