University Park, PA – Pride senior Daniel Rono placed 11th to lead the Hofstra Men's Cross Country team at the 2013 Penn State Nationals at the PSU Blue/White Golf Course Friday morning.

Rono (Eldoret, Kenya) posted a time of 27:03 on the 5.2-mile course to finish 1:10 behind the winner, Penn State alum Kyle Dawson and 36 seconds behind the collegiate winner, Alex Monroe from Lock Haven. Rono has now been the top Pride runner in 17 of the 20 meets in which he has competed.

Three Hofstra freshman followed Rono as Jack Finlayson (Orillia, ON, Canada) placed 40th in 28:45, Riley Leder (Manalapan, NJ) was 45th in 29:08 and Michael Simon (Englishtown, NJ) was 62nd in 30:33. The Pride ran with only four runners due to illness and did not place as a team.

The Penn State Alumni team took team honors with 15 points and was followed by Lock Haven (52), Detroit Mercy (64), St. Francis of Pennsylvania (113), Robert Morris (114) and Bloomsburg (167).

Hofstra will now prepare for the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, November 2 at Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley, Maryland. The men's race begins at 10:00 a.m.
