Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra Volleyball team will take a perfect 8-0 record into Tuesday's home match against Seton Hall and will look to match the 1988 squad for the best-start in program history.
The 1988 team started 9-0, and currently the 2012 edition of the Pride sits at 8-0 and is tied with the 1989 squad for the second-best start in the stellar history of the Hofstra Volleyball team.
Following the Seton Hall match, Hofstra will take to the road as they will travel to the Mean Green Invitational at North Texas next weekend. The Pride will take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Oral Roberts, Eastern Michigan and North Texas at the tournament.
Hofstra is coming off its second straight 4-0 week as the Pride opened the week with a 3-0 road sweep of St. Francis (NY) on Wednesday before tallying wins over Siena, St. Francis (NY) and Princeton at the Hofstra Invitational over the weekend.
Sophomore outside hitter Kelsie Wills earned most valuable player honors at the Hofstra Invitational, while senior setter Catalina Charry picked up all-tournament accolades.
This week could see a new face at the top of one of Hofstra's career records list as senior libero Kylee Maneja is close to the program record for digs.
Maneja is closing in on the all-time digs record at Hofstra as the talented Kapolei, Hawaii native now has 1,636 career digs and trails Shellane Ogoshi (1,660 digs from 2004-07) by just 24 digs for the top spot.
The contest against Seton Hall will start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Pride will take on Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Oral Roberts on Friday and Eastern Michigan and North Texas on Saturday at the Mean Green Invitational.
