Hempstead, NY - Senior Kerry Kiddoo recorded career-highs of one goal and two assists to lead the Hofstra Pride to a 3-2 non-conference victory over the UC Davis Aggies at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Sunday afternoon.

With the win, the Pride snapped a two-game losing skid and improved to 5-3 on the season. The Aggies of UC Davis, with their fifth consecutive loss, dropped to 3-5.

The Pride scored the first three goals of the contest including two in the first half. Freshman Lauren del Valle (Exton, PA) opened the scoring 22:44 into the game, taking a long pass from Kiddoo in the circle and then going around Aggies' goalie Conley Craven for a 1-0 lead. It was del Vallee's third goal of the season.

Hofstra would score its second goal off a penalty corner as time expired in the first half. Senior Codi Nyland (Washington, NJ) inserted the corner, classmate Krizia Layne (Arima, Trinidad) was the stopper and Kerry Kiddoo (Chapel Hill, NC) fired in the first goal of her career for the 2-0 lead at the break. Hofstra had another good opportunity in the period on a penalty stroke. But Layne's attempt sailed wide left. The Pride outshot UC Davis in the first half, 9-7.

The Pride extended the lead to 3-0 10:35 into the second half when Kiddoo sent a long hard cross into the circle where junior Katelyn Horan (Endicott, NY) deflected it past Craven for her first goal of the year and second of her career.

The Aggies closed the deficit to 3-1 with 6:40 to play in the contest when senior Amanda Marinac fired a shot from the top of the circle that deflected off the pads of Hofstra junior goalie Kaitlyn De Turo (South Setauket, NY) and into the cage. It was Marinac's first goal of the year. UC Davis closed out the scoring with five seconds remaining as senior Marissa Hughes converted a penalty stroke for her third goal of the year.

UC Davis outshot the Pride, 15-14 and had nine penalty corners to Hofstra's seven. De Turo finished the game with eight saves for the Pride. Craven made three saves in the Aggies' cage.

The Pride open their 2012 Colonial Athletic Association schedule on Friday, September 21 when they host eighth-ranked Old Dominion at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium at 3 p.m.
