10/19/2012 9:50:00 PM

Durham, NH - Pride junior Jillian Geysen scored her first collegiate goal but Northeastern freshman Deidre Duke scored four times and added an assist to lead the 10th-ranked Huskies to a 7-1 victory over Hofstra in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at the University of New Hampshire's Memorial Field Friday afternoon.

The Huskies, who posted their second consecutive win and fifth victory in the last six games, improve to 12-3 overall and 4-1 in the CAA. Hofstra slips to 6-9 overall and 0-5 in the CAA.

The Huskies showed why they are the 10th-ranked team in the country, scoring four times in the first 35 minutes to build a 4-1 lead at the intermission. Senior Crystal Poland, a first team All-CAA selection in 2011, opened the scoring just 3:22 into the contest off a penalty corner with classmate Nicky Graham and junior Lindsay Bennett assisting on her league-leading 21st tally of the season. Less than two minutes later, Duke notched the first of four goals on the day, off a pass from Bennett into the circle, for a 2-0 advantage. Duke would boost the lead to 3-0 at the 26:56 mark, off a pass from sophomore Kate Carlson, for her ninth goal of the season.

Geysen, a native of East Hampton, Connecticut, put Hofstra on the board with 3:28 to play in the half, taking a pass from sophomore Jonel Boileau and one-timing it past Northeastern's All-CAA goalie Lizzie Priest for her first college goal.

But the Huskies weren't done for the half as Duke completed the hat-trick with 54 seconds to play in the period, deflecting sophomore Caroline Judge's shot past Pride goalie Kaitlyn De Turo for the 4-1 lead at the break. Northeastern outshot Hofstra, 8-3 in the first half.

Northeastern added two more goals, 24 seconds apart, in the first five minutes of the second half. Poland tallied her second of the game and 22nd of the year at the 39:07 mark, deflecting in Duke's shot for a 5-1 lead. Just 24 seconds later, Duke was left alone in the circle and notched her fourth of the game and 11th of the season for a 6-1 advantage. Bennett closed out the scoring for the Huskies with an unassisted goal at the 55:12 mark for her third goal of the year.

Northeastern outshot the Pride, 18-10 and took four penalty corners to three for Hofstra. Lizzie Priest made two saves in 63 minutes in the goal for the Huskies before being replaced by Cara Ahlgrim who made one stop. De Turo made five saves in the Hofstra goal.

The Pride will continue to head north this weekend when they travel to Orono, Maine to face the Black Bears of Maine in a non-conference game on Sunday (Oct. 21) at noon.
