5/1/2011 10:37:00 PM

Atlanta, GA - Georgia State scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to snap a 3-3 tie and take a 6-3 win over the Pride Sunday afternoon. Hofstra had tied the game in the top of the eighth on an RBI single from Matt Reistetter .

The win completes a three-game sweep of the Pride (11-26, 9-15) by the Panthers (33-13, 13-8).

Georgia State led 2-0 after two innings as Brandon Williams had an RBI double in the first and Rob Lind had an RBI double in the second. Hofstra tied the game with two runs in the fifth as Joe Perez led off with a double and came home on Dylan Nasiatka 's double to make it 2-1. Nasiatka then scored on Scott A'Hara 's single to tie the score.

The Panthers went up 3-2 in the sixth as Drew Shields had an RBI single that scored Bryan Condotta. But in the eighth, Hofstra tied it once again as Nasiatka was hit by a pitch to start the inning. He moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and A'Hara then walked to put runners on first and second. Georgia State went to the bullpen and called on Nick Squeglia to face Reistetter, who greeted him with a single to left to tie the score.

The tie was short-lived as Condotta led off the bottom of the eighth with a single and went to second on Mark Micowski's base hit. Shields loaded the bases with a bunt single and Lind followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. Williams would add a two-run single to make it 6-3.

The Pride threatened in the ninth as Jared Hammer and Kenny Jackson each singled, but GSU closer Jake Dyer induced a double play to end the game and earn his seventh save. Jeff Guthridge (2-2) took the loss for the Pride, while Squeglia improves to 4-2 for the Panthers.

Perez was the only Hofstra player with multiple hits as he had two on the day. Shields, Lind and Williams each had three hits for the Panthers. Williams also had three RBIs, while Lind added two.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday afternoon against Long Island University. The game will take place at MCU Park in Coney Island. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
