4/30/2011 3:13:00 AM

Atlanta, GA - Mark Micowski had three hits and two RBIs, and Rob Lind also added three hits as Georgia State earned a 6-4 win over Hofstra Friday night at Panthersville.

Georgia State improves to 31-13 overall and 11-8 in the CAA, while Hofstra falls to 11-24, 9-13 in the CAA.

Hofstra jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first as Scott A'Hara led off with a single and went to second on a ground out. Danny Poma singled home A'Hara and then advanced to second on an error by first baseman Theo Asher. Poma stole third and after Georgia State starter loaded the bases by hitting Jared Hammer and Kenny Jackson , Joe Perez delivered a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

The Panthers cut the deficit in half in the second as Micowski legged out a two-out infield single to score Asher and make it a 2-1 game. Georgia State then scored four runs in the third to make it 5-2. Three consecutive singles to start the inning loaded the bases and Drew Shields hit a sacrifice fly to right. Asher then singled home the go ahead run to make it 3-2. Shane Hammond then singled to make it 4-2. After getting an infield pop out, Hofstra starter David D'Errico surrendered another two-out hit to Micowski to drive home the final run of the inning.

The Pride battled back with runs in the fourth and fifth to make it a 5-4 game. In the fourth Perez led off and was hit by a pitch and after moving to third on a sacrifice and ground out, came in on Logan Davis ' RBI single. In the fifth Poma singled to lead off the frame, went to second on a ground out, stole third and then scored on Jackson's sacrifice fly to left.

But the Pride could not put another run across against the Panther bullpen and Ryan Fleming gave the Panthers some breathing room with a solo home run in the sixth to close out the scoring for both teams.

D'Errico (4-5) took the loss after allowing 10 hits and five runs in 2 2/3 innings of work. The Pride bullpen - Joe Burg , Andrew Barbarino and Brett Schreiber - were solid, allowing six hits and one run over 5 1/3 innings. Olson (5-3) went five innings and allowed nine hits and all four runs. Jake Dyer pitched the final 1 1/3 to earn his sixth save of the season.

A'Hara, Poma, Hammer, Perez and Davis each had two hits for the Pride.

The series continues with game two on Saturday at 1 p.m.
