Brookline, MA -Brandon McNelis pitched a complete game, three-hit shutout as Northeastern completed a three-game sweep of the Pride, 5-0, Sunday afternoon. The Huskies held Hofstra without a run in all three games of the series.
The Huskies jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the third when Alan Pastyrnak led off with a single to right-centerfield before Matt Miller doubled to left-center to put runners on second and third with none out. Jeff Dunlap then doubled down the rightfield line to give NU the 2-0 edge.
The scored remained 2-0 until the fifth when Northeastern plated three runs to extend its advantage to 5-0. Dunlap reached with a one-out single and stole second as Jon Leroux struck out for the second out. . With John Puttress batting, Burg unleashed a wild pitch to score Castoldi for Northeastern's fourth run of the contest before Burg allowed a single to Puttress to end his day.

came on in relief, and after Puttress stole second Oliver Hart singled to right field to score Puttress for the 5-0 lead.
Hofstra threatened in the seventh with runners at the corners after a pair of one-out singles by
Jared Hammer
and Matt Reistetter
, but McNelis induced a double-play off the bat of
Joe Perez
to end the threat.
McNelis (2-3), who struck out seven, then pitched a perfect eighth and ninth to close out the game. Burg fell to 0-4 on the season, giving up five earned runs and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings.
The three consecutive shutout losses mark the first time in program history that the Pride have been held scoreless in three consecutive contests.
Hofstra returns to action Wednesday when it hosts St. John's at University Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
