Boca Raton, FL - Logan Davis
had two hits and two RBIs but it wasn't enough as Florida Atlantic completed a three-game sweep of the Pride with an 8-4 victory Sunday afternoon at FAU Stadium.
Rob Kumbatovic
made his first appearance for the Pride after sitting out last season and took the loss after allowing nine hits and six runs in 5 1/3 innings. FAU starter Jake Meiers took the win, allowing four hits and three runs in five innings.
Hofstra led 2-1 after the top of the fourth inning as it erased a 1-0 deficit on Davis' two-run single. But the Owls took the lead for good in the bottom half of the frame with three runs. Nick Delguidice had an RBI double and Joey Burkhalter added a two-run double for a 4-2 lead.
The Pride got a run back in the fifth as Matt Reistetter
tripled to lead off and following a walk and a hits batsman, Dylan Nasiatka
drew a bases loaded walk to plate Reistetter.
But FAU scored twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Hofstra did get a run in the top of the seventh on a Scott A'Hara
RBI ground out.
Hudak went 4-4 with three runs scored for the Owls, while Delguidice was 3-4 with two RBIs and Burkhalter was 3-4 with three RBIs.
Davis was the only player with more than one hit for the Pride.
Hofstra is back in action next weekend when it travels to Tallahassee, FL, for a three-game set with nationally-ranked Florida State. The first game of the series, on Friday, begins at 4 p.m.
