Philadelphia, PA - Chris Griebsch's unassisted goal at 60:51 was all the Pride would need as Roberto Pellegrini posted seven saves for his third shutout of the season in Hofstra's 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association win over Drexel at rainy Vidas Field.
Hofstra improves to 6-7, 3-4 in the CAA. Drexel drops to 3-9-2, 2-4-1 in league play. The win snapped a three-match losing streak for the Pride.
Griebsch capitalized on a misplayed goal kick by the Dragons and rocketed a shot past Drexel keeper Pentti Pussinen for his third goal of the season.
Drexel controlled the play in the first half, holding a 9-4 shot advantage, but Pellegrini had four saves in the first and added three more in the second half as he stonewalled any attempt at a Drexel comeback. The Dragons finished the night with a 14-8 shot advantage.
Pussinen finished with three saves.
Hofstra returns to action Saturday night at No. 11 Old Dominion.
