Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University senior second baseman Matt Prokopowicz has been named the GoHofstra.com Student-Athlete of the Week for his strong play in Hofstra's three-game sweep over Northeastern last weekend. Prokopowicz was selected in fan vote on GoHofstra.com

Prokopowicz went 6-for-14 (.429) with five RBIs and five runs scored to lead Hofstra to a three-game sweep on the road over Northeastern. The Massapequa, NY, native went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the opening game, a 5-2 Pride win. Prokopowicz was the hero in a 9-6, 12-inning win in game two as he went 3-for-6 with the game winning three-run home run in the top of the 12th inning. Hofstra's leadoff hitter also scored four runs in the contest. He capped off the weekend with a 1-for-4, two RBI afternoon in the Pride's 6-1 triumph in the series finale.

On the season, Prokopowicz is batting .395 with four home runs, 18 runs scored and 17 RBIs. He will lead the first place Pride into a weekend meeting with CAA-rival Georgia State in Atlanta. The three-game series opens Friday night at 6 p.m.
