Jamaica, NY - Jamie Lincoln tallied four goals and four assists, and Jay Card, Brad Loizeaux and Dan Stein each added two goals to lead the sixth-ranked Hofstra Pride to a 13-4 victory over St. John's University at DaSilva Memorial Field Tuesday night. With their fourth consecutive win, the Pride improve to 4-1 on the season. The Red Storm fall to 3-4.

Lincoln, who posted a career-high four assists, recorded his second eight-point game of the season following a five goal, three assist night against Johns Hopkins on March 13.  Junior Jay Card, who extended his consecutive game point streak to 20 games with the two goals, went down with an ankle injury in the second half. Loizeaux, a sophomore, equaled his career-high with two goals while Stein, a senior, notched a season-high two goals. Junior Stephen Bentz, freshman John Antoniades and red-shirt freshman Michael Hamilton each added single goals for the Pride. For Hamilton and Antoniades, it was the first goals of their careers. Hofstra split the goalkeeping duties Tuesday as freshman starter Rob Bellairs played the first half making one save before leaving the game at halftime with an ankle injury. Sophomore Andrew Gvozden took over in the second half and made 10 saves and allowed two goals.

The Red Storm received single goals by seniors Tom Manes and Garrett Mitchell, sophomore Charlie Holenstein and freshman Alex Lagodich. Freshman goalie Jeff Lohman made 14 saves in 46:34 for the Red Storm before senior Gavin Buckley came in and played the last 13:26.

The Pride attacked the Red Storm early but only solid play by Lohman, who made six of his 14 saves in the first quarter, kept Hofstra off the board. The Red Storm did strike first 7:55 into the quarter as Terence Leach fed Manes for his fourth goal of the season. But Card opened the floodgates for the Pride near the end of the first period as Hofstra would score the next eight goals to take an 8-2 lead at halftime.

First, Card would score his 10th goal of the season from Lincoln with 1:07 to play in the first quarter to tie the game. Antoniades notched the first of his career, from Lincoln, almost off the second quarter face-off, to give Hofstra a 2-1 advantage. Card would then add his second from Lincoln with 9:45 to play in the half. Bentz notched his 13th of the season 43 seconds later from Lincoln, and Lincoln finally got on the goal side of the ledger with his 14th of the season 57 seconds after that to boost the Hofstra lead to 5-1. Stein posted his second of the season, from Bentz, with 6:11 to play before Loizeaux scored back-to-back unassisted goals-his sixth and seventh of the year-to bump the lead to 8-1.

Mitchell stopped the Hofstra run with his 10th of the year 1:57 before halftime and Lagodich scored his sixth of the year 2:54 into the third quarter to close the deficit to 8-3. But Hofstra would add four unanswered goals, with Lincoln scoring twice in the third and Stein and Lincoln scoring in the first half of the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach at 12-3. Holenstein would score his fourth of the season for St. John's with 2:16 to play before Hamilton closed out the scoring with his first goal, from Steve DeNapoli, with 29 seconds to play.

Hofstra outshot the Red Storm, 42-31, and picked up 33 ground balls to St. John's 26. The Pride return to action this Saturday, March 27 when they open the CAA season at 18th-ranked Massachusetts at Garber Field at 1 p.m.
