Madison, CT - Senior Riti Dhillon set a personal-best 6K time to lead the Hofstra Pride to a 34th place finish at
the 2010 NCAA Division I Northeast Regional at Hammonassett State Park Saturday
afternoon.
Dhillon (Hopewell Junction, NY) clocked a personal best time of 23:12 to finish 168th. It was also the
21st-best 6K time in school history. Freshman Kristin Mathis (Williamstown, NJ)
was 202nd in 23:56 while junior Meghan McCloskey (Brewer, ME) was the Pride's
third finisher in 24:03, good for 204th place. Sophomore Cara Mattson (East
Meadow, NY) was 224th in 24:48, freshman Elizabeth Jerome (Northport, NY) was
233rd in 25:07, freshman Brittney Towner (Rocky River, OH) was 234th in 25:09
and junior Kelly Lutz (Catonsville, MD) was 240th in 25:50.
The Orange of
Syracuse also captured the women's regional team title with 78 points. Stony
Brook was second with 83 points with Providence third with 87 points. Stony
Brook senior twins Lucy Van Dalen (19:38) and Holly Van Dalen (19:42) finished
one-two, and Providence sophomore Shelby Greany was third in 19:56.
The Pride close out their season next Saturday (Nov. 20) at Van Cortland
Park in the Bronx when they
compete in the ECAC University Championship race at 11:30 a.m.
