TODD NAMED TO CAA SILVER ANNIVERSARY TEAM

Richmond, VA - Hofstra forward Michael Todd (2003-06) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association 25th Anniversary Men's Soccer team, it was announced today.

Todd led Hofstra to three straight Colonial Athletic Association titles from 2004-06, earning the CAA Player of the Year honor as a senior in 2006. He also was twice named the CAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player (2004, 2006) and had the game-winning goals in the second half of both of Hofstra's NCAA Tournament wins (2-1 over Seton Hall in 2004, 2-0 over Providence in 2006). He finished his career with 101 points, making him only the second player in school history to reach the 100-point plateau, while his 40 career goals is the third-highest total in school history.

As part of its 25th Anniversary celebration in 2009-10, the CAA is recognizing Silver Anniversary teams in 21 championship sports.  The teams are selected by a panel of current and former head coaches in the conference. Former Hofstra women's soccer players Becky Wachsberger (2002-05) and Sue Weber (2005-07) were honored on Tuesday.

Members of the CAA Silver Anniversary team for men's soccer are: Wade Barrett (William & Mary), Brent Bennett (James Madison), Michael Brady (American), Adin Brown (William & Mary), Leigh Cowlishaw (Richmond), Matthew Delicate (VCU), David Horst (Old Dominion), Waughn Hughes (William & Mary), Steve Jolley (William & Mary), Kaarlo Kankkunen (James Madison), Kevin Knight (James Madison), Rich Kotschau (George Mason), Tamir Linhart (George Mason), Trevor McEachron (Old Dominion), Patrick McSorley (James Madison), Carlos Mendes (Old Dominion), Kurt Morsink (James Madison), Dominic Oduro (VCU), Mike Reynolds (George Mason), Gonzalo Segares (VCU), Jimmy Tanner (Old Dominion), Fred Thompson (George Mason), Michael Todd (Hofstra), Jon Tuttle (William & Mary) and Attila Vendegh (Old Dominion).

The CAA has established itself as one of the nation's best men's soccer conferences. Since sponsorship of the sport began in 1985, the CAA has sent multiple teams to the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship in 17 of the 24 seasons, with American University reaching the national championship game in 1985. The conference has had a team reach the NCAA quarterfinals six times.

William and Mary has captured five conference championships and made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances over the past 24 years. George Mason and James Madison have each won four CAA titles and made eight NCAA Tournament trips as league members. VCU owns three CAA titles and has made six NCAA Tournament appearances, while Hofstra claimed three straight CAA championships from 2004-06. Richmond and Old Dominion each have two league crowns, with the Monarchs reaching the NCAA's seven times, including a stretch of six straight from 2002-07.
