COX, YOUHILL NAMED TO BRITAIN WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES TEAM

7/3/2007 12:00:00 PM

Senior midfielder Chris Cox (Nottingham, England) and sophomore midfielder Rob Youhill (Harrogate, England - pictured) were named to Great Britain's World University Games team, along with former Hofstra forward Michael Todd, it was announced today by British head coach Graeme Dell.

Cox, Youhill and Todd will compete at the World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand from August 7-21. Great Britain opens play against Mexico on August 7 and will be in Pool D with Mexico, Morocco and Kazakhstan.

Cox has been a two-time first-team All-Colonial Athletic Association selection for the Pride, as well as a two-time NSCAA All-Region selection. He tallied four goals and four assists last year, and helped Hofstra to its third straight CAA title.

Youhill totaled two goals and four assists in his rookie season with the Pride in 2006. He scored Hofstra's lone goal in a 1-1 tie with George Mason in the CAA championship game (the Pride won 3-2 in penalty kicks) and added an assist in a 4-2 semifinal win over Old Dominion.

Todd finished his Hofstra career last fall as the second leading scoring in school history with 101 points (40 goals, 21 assists). He was named the CAA Player of the Year and became the Pride's first Division I All-American when he earned second-team honors from the NSCAA last year. He was named the CAA Tournament Most Valuable PLayer of the second time in his career as well last fall, and scored the game-winning goal in an NCAA Tournament win over Providence.

Hofstra is one of only three schools in the nation that have won three straight conference tournaments, joining New Mexico and Western Illinois. Cox and the other members of the Pride's senior class will attempt to conclude their college careers with four straight conference championships this fall.
