UNTERSTEIN NAMED CAA CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

4/11/2005 6:00:00 PM

Hofstra University junior attackman Chris Unterstein (pictured) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Unterstein (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) contributed 10 points on four goals and six assists as Hofstra vaulted into a tie for first place with CAA road wins over Sacred Heart (14-10) and Delaware (13-3). The junior tallied a career-high six points with three goals and three assists as the Pride downed Sacred Heart 14-10 and snapped a six-game road losing streak. Last Saturday in Newark, he contributed a goal and three assists as Hofstra knocked off the 17th-ranked Blue Hens. Unterstein, who has 12 points in his past three games, leads Hofstra with 24 points on the season.

Unterstein, who was also named the CAA Player of the Week on March 21, shares the award this week with Towson University sophomore attackman Bobby Griebe. Griebe scored seven goals and had two assists in leading Towson to wins over UMBC (8-6) and Villanova (10-9 in 4ot) last week. The sophomore attack recorded a career-high five goals at VU, including one with 32.8 seconds to go in regulation that forced the extra session, and then assisted on the game-winning tally. He also scored the team's final two goals in the victory over UMBC. Griebe leads Towson with 17 goals this season, 11 of which have come in the past three games. Hofstra and Towson will meet on Saturday night, April 23 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson.
