Hempstead, NY - Hofstra volleyball sophomore middle blocker Julia Amorim was stellar defensively for Hofstra in their two matches against Liberty and Army West Point last week and was named the CAA Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week. Amorim totaled 17 blocks, while also adding 11 kills and four digs over 10 sets. 

Against Liberty she tallied a match-high nine blocks and added six digs. She followed that up with another strong showing at the net with eight more blocks, five kills, and four digs in the reverse sweep of Army West Point. 

For the week Amorim averaged 1.70 blocks and 1.10 kills per set. 

Both blocking totals were the highest for a Hofstra individual this season and rank as the second and eighth highest in the CAA this season.
