Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse program is proud and honored to announce that senior Christine Dannenfelser has been selected as the program's first recipient of the Nick Colleluori Tribute Award. Dannenfelser will wear #27 this year for the Pride.

The Nick Colleluori Tribute Award has been a staple of the Hofstra men's lacrosse program since 2010 and this year will mark the 17th recipient on the men's side.

The Nick Colleluori Tribute Award is presented to a Hofstra player in the form of assigning Nick's number 27 to a student-athlete who exhibits the same selflessness, team spirit and relentlessness that Colleluori displayed on and off the field. Colleluori, who played for the Pride and would have been a member of the Class of 2008, fought a courageous 14-month battle against non-Hodgkin's lymphoma before passing away on November 28, 2006.

A senior from Bayport, New York, Dannenfelser has appeared in 50 games for the Pride. She is a finance major. A three-year captain of the Pride, Dannenfelser has amassed 123 ground balls, 101 draw controls, and 83 caused turnovers in her career.

The Pride women's lacrosse program will host its annual Nick Colleluori Classic on Sunday, October 4, at James M. Shuart Stadium. The all-day tournament will feature Hofstra, FDU, Sacred Heart, and Temple.
