New York, NY - The Hofstra women's outdoor track & field team had a successful day at the 2026 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium in New York, New York, on Friday. As a team, the Pride finished in 10th place with 21 points, while St. John's took the team title with 231 points.
Sophia Briggs led the Pride to finish in fourth place in the 5000m event with a personal best time of 18:19.09, besting her PR by 41 seconds.
Allison Reid finished the 5000m in 6th place with a time of 18:58.99. In the 3000m steeplechase event,
Avery Brawner earned a fourth place finish for her 11:42.79 time.
Tori Bien,
Julia Mills,
Eva Mathew, and
Jordan Slovensky represented the Pride in the 4x800m relay and finished in second out of two teams with a time of 10:49.20.
Natalie Campisi earned a 10th place finish in the 1500m race with her time of 5:06.26. Jadyn Hsu competed in the 100m dash preliminaries and finished in 10th place with a time of 16.15.
Mills led the way for the Pride in the 800m event with a 2:27.59 time to finish in 13th place. Bien was 15th at 2:29.36, Slovensky was 24th at 2:39.15, Mathew was 25th at 2:41.80, and
Amanda Hinojos earned a 27th place finish at 2:46.32. In the shot put event,
Sharyn-Nicole Thomas recorded a throw of 9.33m to place 13th, while
Sarah Purschke was 15th at 8.19m.
Lilian Brine competed for Hofstra in the 100m dash preliminaries and earned a 20th place finish and time of 13.36.
The Hofstra women's outdoor track and field team return to action on Saturday, April 11 for the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
