Beach Leads Pride At Metropolitan Outdoor Championships

New York, NY - Freshman Callum Beach led the Hofstra men's outdoor track & field team at the 2026 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships from Icahn Stadium in New York, New York, on Friday with his first place finish in the 3000m steeplechase event. As a team, Hofstra finished 11th with 10 points, while FDU took first place with 179 points. 

Beach was the sole competitor in the 3000m steeplechase and finished the race with a time of 10:43.53 to take first. Matthew Laudicina led Hofstra in the 800m race with a ninth place finish at 1:58.11, while John Ortiz came in 21st at 2:05.78. Zach Daudelin recorded a throw of 10.92m to take ninth place in the shot put event, while Evan Papadopoulos came in 13th place following a 7.81m throw. In the 5000m race, Alex Walsh finished with a time of 15:54.10 to take 12th place and Jamie Cartnal was 17th at 16:42.69.

Steiger Devil finished the 100m dash preliminaries with a time of 11.26 and Cade Jaipaul was in 30th place at 12.97. Sameer Grewal earned a 28th place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 52.41. In the 200m dash, Cade Jaipaul was 41st at 25.58 and Arnario Briggs-Garcia finished in 42nd place at 25.73.

The Hofstra men's outdoor track and field team return to the track for the Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, April 11 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
