Kipkemboi Breaks Program Record As Pride Conclude Successful Weekend In California

Azusa, California - The Hofstra men's outdoor track and field team competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays in California from Thursday through Saturday, April 18. Abel Kipkemboi closed out the weekend at Bryan Clay setting a new 1500m program record with his 3:48.18 time late Saturday night, while Jason Kerber earned a first place finish in the 10,000m elite race at Mt. SAC with his 30:22.54 time on Friday. 

The Pride began the Bryan Clay Invitational on Thursday morning with Daniel Torrillo's 35th place finish and time of 30:36.88 out of the 65-runner field. Kerber competed at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday evening, earning his first place finish. William Thu and Noah Zeitzer competed in the 5,000m race on Friday morning at Bryan Clay, with Thu placing 29th at 14:31.96 and Zeitzer in 36th place at 14:34.46. Both recorded personal best times in the 5,000m race. Kipkemboi wrapped up the weekend with his program record setting 1500m performance late on Saturday, earning a 54th place finish out of the 166-competitor field. 

The Pride return to action on Thursday, April 23 for the Penn Relays in Philadephia, Pennsylvania.
