Hempstead, NY - Hofstra Head Men's Basketball Coach
Speedy Claxton was named the All-Met Co-Coach of the Year,
Cruz Davis earned All-Met First Team honors, and
Preston Edmead picked up the Met Rookie of the Year accolades as well as All-Met Second Team honors, it was announced today by the organization.
Claxton, now in his fifth season, led Hofstra to 24 wins, the CAA Championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The 24 victories are the most since Claxton's second year at the helm in 2022-23 and he guided the Pride to the program's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2001.
Claxton is Hofstra's first recipient of the MBWA's Men's Division I Coach of the Year since Joe Mihalich in 2019. He is the program's fifth-ever honoree, joining Mihalich, Tom Pecora (2009 and 2006), and Jay Wright (2001).
Davis, the CAA Player of the Year and an All-CAA First Team selection, averaged team highs of 20.1 points and 4.7 assists per game. He appeared in all 35 games and averaged 37.9 minutes per game. Davis was also a three-time CAA Player of the Week and three-time Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Player of the Week honoree in 2025-26
Edmead was the CAA Rookie of the Year this season and also garnered All-CAA Second Team accolades. He ranked second on the team in both scoring and assists with 16.1 points and 4.4 assists per outing. He appeared in all 35 games as well and averaged 33.9 minutes per contest. Edmead earned the CAA Rookie of the Week award seven times this season.
