Hempstead, NY - One of the best rookie seasons in CAA history continues as Hofstra freshman guard
Preston Edmead earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors for a seventh time in 2025-26, it was announced today by the conference office.
The seven rookie of the week awards are the second-most in a single-season in CAA history and the most since Omar Prewitt of William & Mary won the award seven times in 2013-14. Hofstra's Antoine Agudio holds the league record, having won the award eight times in 2004-05.
Edmead has previously won the award this season on January 12, January 5, December 22, December 1, November 17, and November 10.
Edmead was spectacular for Hofstra this week as he led the Pride to a perfect 2-0 week with a pair of home victories.
For the week, he averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 8.5 assists per game.
On Thursday in the convincing win over Northeastern, he poured in a game-high 23 points, added a career-high nine rebounds, and tied his career-high with eight assists.
Edmead's second game of the week was just as impressive as he posted 13 points, five rebounds, and a career-high nine assists in the rout of preseason CAA favorite Towson.
He was tremendous in controlling the game as well, as he totaled 17 assists for the week to only four turnovers.
Edmead was in double figures for the 20th and 21st time this season in scoring.
For the week, he shot 48% from the field, 62% from three-point range, and a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
