Hempstead, NY - Hofstra freshman guard Preston Edmead solidified his spot as the top freshmen in the league as he was named the CAA Rookie of the Week today, it was announced by the conference office. The award is Edmead's fifth this season.

He is only the 15th player in CAA history to win the award at least five times in a single season and is tied for the second-most by a Hofstra player (Jamall Robinson, 2013-14). Hofstra's Antoine Agudio holds the conference record, having won the weekly rookie award eight times in 2004-05.

Edmead previously won the award on December 22, December 1, November 17, and November 10.

Edmead helped the Pride to a 2-0 start in CAA play as they extended the win streak to six consecutive games.

Edmead averaged 16.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in the Pride's two victories.

On Monday, he had 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists in the CAA opener against Campbell.

Edmead would follow that up with 16 points, a season-high-tying six rebounds, and three assists in the road victory at Drexel.

For the week, he shot 52% from the field overall, 62% (8-13) from three-point range, and started both games and averaged 28 minutes per outing.

Edmead has scored in double figures 12 times this season.
