Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's lacrosse team will have to wait a couple extra days to get the 2026 season started as the inclement weather has forced the postponement of the Pride's season opener against Iona to Monday. The game will now be played at Iona's Mazzella Field at 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon.
The game is the season opener for both teams.
Broadcast information will be available soon.
Hofstra is coming off an eight-win season in 2025 and the Pride advanced to the semifinals of the CAA Championship before falling in overtime. Three players were named to the preseason All-CAA team last week as
Trevor Natalie,
Shea Kennedy, and
Austin Clarke all earned accolades from the league. Natalie was also a preseason USA Lacrosse All-American.
Iona went 2-13 in 2025, earning wins over Hampton and Quinnipiac.
This will be the second-ever meeting between Hofstra and Iona in men's lacrosse. The Pride won the first meeting, 20-2, to open the 2025 season on February 1, 2025.
