Hofstra Announces Baseball Recruiting Class

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Baseball Coach Frank Catalanotto announced his 2025 recruiting class, featuring nine student-athletes that have opted to continue their academic and athletic careers at Hofstra beginning in Fall 2026. The nine signees are Linus Frederick, Josh Hale, Tristan Hickis, Matt Kurz, Zach Muir, Ulysses Pichardo, Dylan Santucci, Luke Tran, and Jaden Vasquez.

"I am quite happy with our signing class," said Catalanotto. "I feel that we added quality players that fill needs for us. Credit to our staff for identifying these young men. I look forward to their arrival on campus and working with them to reach their full potential."

Frederick, a pitcher from Northport, New York, attends Northport High School, where he was an All-Suffolk County and all-league performer as a junior after posting a 5-2 record, a 1.94 ERA, and 51 strikeouts in 39 ⅔ innings of work. 

Hale, a first baseman/outfielder from Oak Ridge, New Jersey, was a Third Team All-New Jersey selection as a junior at Jefferson Township High School in addition to earning first team all-conference and conference hitter of the year accolades. He batted .541 in 2025 with a school record-tying 46 hits and 21 RBIs. Hale batted .435 as a sophomore and .384 as a freshman. 

Hickis, a pitcher from Franklin Square, New York, attends Carey High School, where he earned All-Nassau County accolades as a junior after posting 77 strikeouts and a 1.51 ERA over 44 innings of work. He was the team's Cy Young Award winner. He also letters in football for the Seahawks. 

Kurz, an outfielder/pitcher, hails from Westbury, New York, and attends Clarke High School. He earned All-Nassau County honors as a junior in 2025 after batting .435 with 8 doubles, 3 home runs, and 15 stolen bases. He also posted a 5-1 record on the mound with a 2.18 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. Kurz also lettered in basketball and football and was an all-county quarterback this past fall, breaking the school record for career passing yards. 

Muir, a pitcher from Cortland, New York, attends Cortland Junior-Senior High School where he letters in baseball and basketball. He was a First Team All-New York State, All-Central New York, and all-league selection in baseball as a junior after posting a 5-1 record with 80 strikeouts in 45 innings. He also batted .375 with 19 RBIs. Muir captained both the baseball and basketball teams, and was an all-league selection in hoops.  

Pichardo, a middle infielder, will join the Pride from The Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Connecticut. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Pichardo batted .333 with 5 doubles, 1 home run, and 13 stolen bases as a junior. 

Santucci, an infielder/outfielder from Woodbury, New York, attends Syosset (NY) High School, where he earned All-New York State accolades as a junior after batting .492 with four home runs. He also earned All-Nassau County honors and was named Team Most Valuable Player. Santucci has hit over .300 in all three of his scholastic seasons and also competes for Showtime Select National, which won the 2024 Perfect Game Championship.   

Tran, an infielder from Scarsdale, New York, attends Iona Prep and helped the Gaels to a 2025 state championship. He batted .321 with 5 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run, 22 RBIs, 24 runs, and 12 stolen bases. 

Vasquez, a shortstop from Haverstraw, New York, attends North Rockland High School and is a two-time all-league selection. A team captain, he batted .311 as a junior with 24 RBIs, 15 runs, and 12 stolen bases. As a sophomore, Vasquez hit .411 with 22 RBIs.
