Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball staff, under the direction of fifth year Head Coach
Speedy Claxton, announced a pair of additions to its staff as well as a pair of promotions.
"I'm excited about these staff moves," said Claxton. "Mike, Antwon, Lee, and Kevin each bring passion and experience that will make a big impact on our program and our student-athletes."
Mike DePaoli has been promoted to associate head coach with the program. DePaoli is in his fifth year of his second stint at Hofstra. DePaoli, who rejoined Hofstra after spending 11 years at Fordham, was a graduate assistant with the Pride from 2008 to 2010. He is a 2007 graduate of The College of Saint Rose.
Antwon Portley is now an assistant coach with the program. Portley is in his fifth season on the Hofstra men's basketball staff in 2025-26. He served as the program's video coordinator for the first three seasons before being promoted to assistant coach in 2024-25. Portley graduated from Fordham in 2019.
Lee Gerstman, who spent the last two years as a graduate manager with the Pride, has been elevated to coordinator of video and player development with both the Hofstra men's and women's basketball programs. Gerstman graduated from Syracuse in 2023.
Joining the staff this year is
Kevin Coyle. Coyle will serve as the special assistant to men's and women's basketball. Coyle joins Hofstra after serving as an assistant coach at Adelphi University. He is a 2018 graduate of SUNY New Paltz.
