Hempstead, NY – Megan Caroll of the Hofstra women's lacrosse team has been awarded the 2025 Division I Community Awareness Award by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), it was announced by the organization Thursday afternoon.

The individual Community Awareness Award recognizes those student-athletes who have contributed significantly to their community in a given academic year. These students have given their time and energy to support and develop athlete-community relations and have distinguished themselves from their peers.

Carroll, a senior health science major, earned the Division I Community Awareness Award for her unwavering dedication to service and leadership within both the Hofstra community and beyond. Since 2022, Carroll has committed approximately 1,600 hours of community service, including approximately 500 hours completed during the 2024-25 academic year. Carroll has done community service work with organizations such as the Wantagh-Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the HEADstrong Foundation, Cohen's Children's Hospital/Children's Miracle Network, the JKW Livewell Foundation, Respectacle, and Holiday Magic.

In her work with the Wantagh-Levittown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, which includes nearly 400 hours, Carroll has served in numerous capacities, including lead EMT, ambulance driver, and now Lieutenant. In this leadership role, she ensures operational coverage, oversees training, and coordinates quality improvement initiatives. Her dedication was recognized with the Basic Life Support Provider of the Year award and a Certificate of Recognition from the Levittown Educational Foundation.

Carroll's commitment to service has earned her the Hofstra Pride Community Service Award at the Hofstra Department of Athletics annual HOFSPY Awards for two consecutive years, recognizing her as the student-athlete with the most service hours.

Also winning individual Community Awareness Awards were Taylor Priestley of Northern Michigan and Taylor Chepren of Marymount, while Winthrop, Belmont Abbey, and Denison won the Team Community Awareness Awards.
