Hempstead, NY - Hofstra freshman Kayleigh Bender was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon. 

This is the second time this season that Bender has earned the conference's rookie of the week award as she previously earned it on February 10. 

Bender had another solid week as the rookie continued her strong season. 

Bender totaled seven points on six goals and an assist during the week. 

In the huge 10-7 win over Towson, Bender was the key reason offensively as she tied her career-high with five points on a career-high-tying four goals and an assist. 

On Sunday in the one-goal loss to #23 Drexel, she added another two goals and now has multiple goals in four of her last five games. 

The hat trick was the sixth of the season for Bender. 

Bender previously had four goals on a pair of occasions, most recently at Wagner on March 4 and also had five points against the Seahawks.
