Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra women's basketball team is aiming to keep its successful stretch going with another late-season CAA contest, this time as the Pride welcomes Long Island rival Stony Brook to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Thursday, March 6.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. against the Seawolves. Tickets are available for purchase at HofstraTickets.com, by calling (516) HOF-TIXX, or by visiting the Hofstra Athletic Ticket Office in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex during normal business hours.
The Hofstra women's basketball program will be partnering with World of Pink Foundation for its Play4Kay game. World of Pink Foundation is a Long Island-based health facility founded in 2016 by board-certified mastectomy fitter Christine A. Guarino, RDH, CMF, dedicated to providing comprehensive aftercare for women who have undergone all phases of breast cancer surgery. World of Pink Foundation will be handing out pink miniature basketballs for fans to have signed by the Pride following the game, and Hofstra will be honoring cancer survivors throughout the game.
Thursday's game will be on MSG Network and FloCollege, and WRHU will provide an audio-only broadcast on 88.7FM. These links, as well as the live statistics link, are available on this page and the women's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
The Pride improved to 12-15 overall and 7-9 in league play with a commanding 54-34 win at William & Mary on Sunday.
Zyheima Swint recorded her fifth double-double this season with 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Pride, while
Alarice Gooden scored a season-high 10 points. It was Hofstra's best defensive performance of the season, and it was the fewest points Hofstra allowed to a Division I opponent since St. John's scored only 34 points on November 23, 2001.
Stony Brook enters Thursday in the midst of a five-game losing streak since its 47-42 win over the Pride on February 7, with its record at 11-16 overall and 6-10 in the CAA. Zaida Gonzalez, who scored 12 points in Stony Brook's win over Hofstra, leads the team with 16.2 points per game.
Stony Brook has won nine consecutive games against the Pride, and the Seawolves lead the all-time series at 10-6.
