Hempstead, NY – After completing a grueling non-conference schedule, the Hofstra women's basketball team shifts its sights to its Coastal Athletic Association opponents to begin 2026, as the Pride travels to South Carolina for a January 2 date against Charleston.
Tip-off from TD Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. FloCollege will carry the gameday stream for Friday's contest, and WRHU will provide an audio-only broadcast on 88.7FM. An 80-42 loss to #11 Kentucky on December 28 put Hofstra's record at 2-9 heading into the CAA opener.
Chloe Sterling had an exceptional outing against the nationally-ranked Wildcats, going 7-14 from the floor and 2-3 from the free throw stripe to a season-high 16 points, and
Deivejon Harris was the leading rebounder with five against the Wildcats to go with seven points.
The preseason favorite to win the conference based on the Preseason CAA Coaches Poll, Charleston enters the conference opener at 8-3 following a 1-1 outing at the Puerto Rico Classic on December 19 and December 20 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, winning 114-40 over UPR Mayaguez and falling 67-61 against Cleveland State. Preseason CAA Player of the Year selection Taryn Barbot leads the Cougars in scoring with 19.4 points per game, while Grace Ezebilo is the team's leading rebounder with an average of 11.9 per contest.
Charleston leads the all-time series against Hofstra with a 12-9 record. The Cougars won both meetings against the Pride in 2025, and have won the last five meetings since February 23, 2022.
