| By:
Hempstead, NY - Hofstra freshman Preston Edmead was named the CAA Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.

It was a strong start to the career for Edmead as he was outstanding in the Pride's first two games of the season.

Edmead averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 assists, 0.5 rebounds, and 0.5 steals per game in the contests against UCF and Iona.

In the season opener against UCF, he posted 16 points and six assists, while playing 30 minutes. He was also 6-6 from the free throw line. Edmead's 16 points were the most by a freshman in his debut for Hofstra since Eli Pemberton had 20 in 2016-17.

Edmead followed that up by leading the team in scoring and assists with 18 points and six assists in the road game at Iona.

For the week, he shot 50% from the field and drained a pair of three-pointers in each game.
