Pride Visits Iona for Early-Season Clash

11/5/2025 5:26:00 PM

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will make the short trek to New Rochelle to face Iona on Friday in the Pride's second game of the season.

Tip-off from the Hynes Athletics Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The game will air on ESPN+. WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.

Hofstra suffered a narrow defeat in its season opener on Monday, falling 82-78 at UCF. The Pride placed four in double figures in the contest as Cruz Davis led the way with 17 points, while Preston Edmead tallied 16 in his collegiate debut. Edmead (6) and Davis (5) combined for 11 assists as well.

Friday's encounter is the season opener for the Gaels. Iona was 17-17 a season ago.

One of the Pride's oldest rivals, Friday's game will be the 46th all-time meeting in a series that began during the 1946-47 season. Hofstra holds a narrow 23-22 lead in the series and has won three straight meetings, including a 90-76 victory in Hempstead a season ago. The last meeting at Iona was a 62-57 Pride win in December of 2023.

Davis had 15 points, five rebounds, and five assists in that game, while Silas Sunday tallied a career-high 14 points and added four rebounds.
