Hempstead, NY – For the second week in a row, Hofstra's
LaNae' Corbett has earned a weekly award from the Coastal Athletic Association. After a pair of top outings to begin the conference slate, the talented freshman has been honored as the CAA Rookie of the Week.
Corbett was previously honored as the CAA Player of the Week for the week of December 30.
The first-year forward from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, had an exceptional start in the first week of CAA competition, helping the Pride to a pair of wins over Monmouth and Delaware to start 2-0 in league play for the first time since the 2014-15 season. In 19.8 minutes per game, Corbett averaged 18.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with an average field goal percentage of .552 and only one turnover committed against the Hawks and the Fightin' Blue Hens.
In the conference opener versus Monmouth, Corbett exploded for a career-high 26 points on 12-18 from the floor – new personal-bests for field goals and attempts – while pulling down seven rebounds and dishing out an assist in the 75-67 win over the Hawks. Two days later, she scored 10 points on four field goals and two free throws, and she recorded eight rebounds, two steals, and an assist as the Pride won, 63-57, for its first win against Delaware since 2016.
Corbett and the Pride return to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex for Hofstra's first CAA home games of the season, beginning on Friday, January 10, at 6 p.m. against Charleston.
