Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team will embark on its first pair of road games this coming weekend, as the Pride travels to Orono, Maine to square off against Maine on Friday, September 6, before facing Central Michigan in a neutral site game on Saturday, September 7. The Pride takes on the Black Bears at 3 p.m. on Friday, and they will take on the Chippewas on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Hofstra opened the renamed Cindy Lewis Stadium to a Sunday showdown against #18 Old Dominion, with
Pieke Roos making 10 saves against the Monarchs in a 3-0 defeat in the first game of the Hillary Fitts era.
Maine opened the season with a defeat to #1 Northwester and wins over UMass and Indiana to put their record at 2-1 entering Friday. Olivia Geniti and Micaela Grajales have one goal and two assists each to lead the team through the first three games of the season. Hofstra's all-time record against Maine is 8-19, with the Black Bears winning the most recent matchup; a 4-1 decision from Hempstead last season.
The Chippewas are 2-0 entering the weekend with wins against Saint Louis and Bellarmine. Mallory Camryn has a hat-trick to lead Central Michigan after the opening weekend. This will be only the second-ever meeting between Hofstra and Central Michigan on the field hockey turf, with the last game coming in 1998; a 4-2 victory for Central Michigan.
