Hempstead, NY - Hofstra was picked to finish second in the Coastal Athletic Association Preseason Coaches Poll, while three student-athletes - Millie Davies, Louise Hayden, and Dagny Run Petursdottir - earned preseason recognition from the league, it was announced today.
Hofstra received three of 13 first place votes, accumulating 131 points to finish two points behind preseason CAA favorite Monmouth. The Hawks, the CAA runner-up in 2023, picked up five first place votes and had 133 points. Defending CAA champion Towson was picked third with 123 points. The Tigers had four first place votes. Northeastern was fourth in the poll with 115 points and one first place vote.Â
Davies, who was an All-CAA Championship selection last season, earned a spot on the Preseason All-CAA Team at midfield. The junior from Manchester, England, started all 18 games last season and recorded three goals and two assists.Â
Hayden, an All-CAA Second Team defender in 2023, joins Davies on the Preseason All-CAA Team. A graduate student from Bjäerred, Sweden, Hayden had an assist in 18 games while helping anchor a back line that produced eight shutouts on the season.Â
Petursdottir was named to the Honorable Mention Preseason All-CAA squad. The junior midfielder from Kópavogur, Iceland, who started 17 games and tallied one assist, was an All-CAA Second Team pick last season.
