Hempstead, NY - Four Hofstra teams were honored by the Coastal Athletic Association as the baseball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and men's track and field programs received the CAA Team Academic Excellence Award, recognizing the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the CAA. Hofstra's four award winners ranked second, behind Monmouth's five honorees.

The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2023-24 academic year.

The baseball team compiled a 3.41 GPA during the 2023-24 academic year, while the men's lacrosse team had a 3.51 GPA and shared the award with Fairfield. The women's lacrosse program posted a 3.62 GPA for the academic year and the men's track and field team compiled a 3.59 GPA.  

In terms of academic honors, baseball had 14 student-athletes named to the Hofstra Dean's List and two named to the Provost's List. Men's lacrosse had 19 Dean's List student-athletes, while women's lacrosse had nine earn Dean's List recognition and six receive Provost's List honors. Men's track and field saw 13 student-athletes earn a spot on the Dean's List and three named to the Provost's List. 

The four programs had numerous honorees on the CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll this past fall as 48 from men's lacrosse, 33 from women's lacrosse student-athletes, 29 from baseball, and 18 from men's track and field received this award. The CAA has not yet announced the Spring 2024 CAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
