Hofstra Student-Athletes Impress Once Again During Spring 2026 Semester

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University student-athletes continued their exemplary academic efforts during the Spring 2026 semester, with the Pride's 21 athletic programs compiling a 3.54 grade point average. It marks the 28th consecutive semester with a combined GPA of 3.00 or higher. In addition, all Hofstra athletic programs recorded at least a 3.27 GPA and 10 programs earned team GPAs of at least 3.50.

"You cannot say enough about our student-athletes and their dedication to academics," said Hofstra Vice President and Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. "I could not be prouder of the effort put forth by our young men and women, and their commitment to meeting one of our core values of building champions in academics."

The women's tennis program led the department with a 3.82 GPA during the spring semester, while the men's lacrosse team earned a 3.75 GPA to rank second in the department. The women's lacrosse program was third with a GPA of 3.66.

Additionally, 42 student-athletes earned perfect 4.00 GPAs, while 171 were named to the Provost's List (4.00 GPA) or Dean's List (3.50+ GPA) during the Spring 2026 semester. Women's soccer led the department with five student-athletes on the Provost's List, while men's lacrosse placed a department-best 31 student-athletes on the Dean's List.

The Fried Center for Student-Athlete Development, located in James C. Metzger Hall, has a dedicated staff offering tailored guidance and a range of support services from pre-enrollment through post-graduation. Fostering success in academics and life, the center provides the Pride Enhancement Program, where student-athletes benefit from an objective-based study hall program and tutorial services designed to promote academic excellence.
