Pride Closes Regular Season With Home Tilt Against Drexel

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team will conclude the regular season and gear up for the CAA Championship when it hosts Drexel on Saturday. The winner of this game will be the two seed in the CAA Championship and the loser of this game will be the three seed. So the Pride and the Dragons will meet in back-to-back games on Long Island with the second game being in the CAA semifinals on May 2. 

Opening draw control is scheduled for 12 p.m. from James M. Shuart Stadium. 

Prior to the game, the program will honor its six seniors. Players being recognized pregame include: Kathleen Bevan, Grace Pupke, Trinity Reed, Melissa Sconone, Chloe Sedlar, and Kerry Walser

Hofstra enters the regular season finale with a 9-6 overall record and a 6-1 conference mark. The Pride has three players with at least 50 points this season as Melissa Sconone has 66 points on 33 goals and 33 assists, Taylor Mennella has 55 points on 33 goals and 22 assists, and Kerry Walser has 53 points on 43 goals and 10 assists. Christine Dannenfelser leads the team with 34 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers, while Kerry Walser has a team-best 65 draw controls. 

Drexel is 11-4 overall and 6-1 in the CAA. The Dragons most recently defeated William & Mary, 16-6, on April 20. Corrine Bednarik has 79 points on 50 goals and 29 assists to lead the way offensively for Drexel. Allison Drake is second with 38 points on 33 goals and five assists. 

Hofstra is 28-13 all-time against Drexel. The first-ever meeting occurred during the 1983 season. The Dragons have won five straight in the series, with the Pride's last win coming during the 2019 campaign.
