Pride Hosts A Pair Of CAA Contests This Week

Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra women's lacrosse team will host a pair of CAA games this week as William & Mary visits on Friday before Elon heads to Hempstead on Sunday. 

Friday's game will begin at 5 p.m. and Sunday's contest will start at 12 p.m. Both games will take place at James M. Shuart Stadium.

Hofstra won for the third time in its last four games and picked up a victory in its CAA opener last Saturday with a 13-10 triumph over Campbell. The win evened Hofstra's overall record at 4-4 and moved them to 1-0 in CAA play. Melissa Sconone had four goals in the win, while Kerry Walser posted three goals and seven draw controls. 

William & Mary is 4-5 this season and Friday will be their first conference game of the season. The Tribe defeated Longwood, 13-12, on Sunday in their most recent outing. Kate Draddy had three goals to lead the way for William & Mary, while Finley Hoffman posted two goals and an assist. 

Elon is 5-4 overall and 1-0 in the league following a 16-13 win over Monmouth this past Saturday. Anna Hackett had five points on four goals and one assist against the Hawks, while Cierra Hopson added three goals. The Phoenix will play Stony Brook on Friday. 

The Pride is 14-7 all-time against William & Mary. The Pride has won seven of the last eight meetings against the Tribe but William & Mary earned a 13-12 win in Williamsburg a season ago. 

Hofstra is 4-3 all-time against Elon. The Pride has won three straight against the Phoenix, including a 17-12 win in North Carolina last season.
