Houston, TX - The Hofstra men's basketball team will face its toughest test of the young season on Friday when the Pride takes on nationally-ranked Houston. The Cougars are ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press poll and No. 8 in the USA Today Sports Coaches Poll.
Hofstra is among those receiving votes (one) in this week's Associated Press poll.
Tip-off from the Fertitta Center is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. in New York).
The game will air on ESPN+ and WRHU will have an audio-only broadcast available on the HAWC. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men's basketball schedule page on GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra is 4-1 following a road defeat at Florida State on Tuesday. The Pride placed three players in double figures against the Seminoles as
Jean Aranguren had 14 points and seven rebounds,
Jaquan Sanders added 13 points and five assists, and
KiJan Robinson tied his career-high with 13 points.
Houston is 2-1 this season and most recently earned a 91-45 victory over Louisiana on November 13. Terrance Arceneaux led the Cougars with 14 points, while Milos Uran added 13.
Friday's game is the second all-time meeting between the teams. The Pride and the Cougars faced off in
Speedy Claxton's first game as head coach at Hofstra back on November 9, 2021. Hofstra gave Houston all it could handle, nearly pulling off the upset before dropping an 83-75 overtime decision to #15 Houston.
