Hofstra Faces Late-Season Tests Away from Home

Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team concludes a three-game stretch away from Cindy Lewis Stadium with a pair of upcoming road games. The Pride first takes on Towson in a pivotal late-season CAA contest, followed by a trip to Washington, D.C. to face American.
 
Friday's game against the Tigers is slated for a 3 p.m. start, and Sunday's contest will begin at 1 p.m. against the Eagles. The Hofstra-Towson game will be streamed on FloLive, while ESPN+ will carry the stream from Hofstra's game versus American. Hofstra dropped a tough 2-1 contest in overtime against Yale on Tuesday, followed by a satisfying 2-0 victory over William & Mary on Friday for the first CAA win of the season for the Pride, before falling 1-0 to Fairfield on Sunday, putting the Pride's record at 3-12 overall and 1-3 in league play. Tara McNally registered a goal and an assist during the week, while Kelly Levengood and Pilar Penaloza each scored against the Tribe, and Pieke Roos picked up CAA Defensive Player of the Week plaudits after making 14 saves and recording a 0.51 goals against average and a .93 save percentage in two starts between the posts.
 
Picked seventh in the CAA Preseason Poll, Towson sits 6-9 overall and 1-4 in the CAA following a loss to Delaware and a win over Bellarmine this past week. Sarah Hatfield and Anouk Westerink lead the Tigers with six goals and one assist each.
 
After splitting games against Holy Cross and Brown, American enters the week with an 8-7 overall record and 4-0 mark in the Patriot League. Leading American in scoring is Jordan Reicher with five goals and two assists. The Eagles will host conference rival Lehigh on Friday before hosting the Pride on Sunday.
 
Hofstra holds an all-time record of 32-12 against Towson, while the Pride's record against is 0-2. Towson snapped a 12-game losing streak against Hofstra with a 1-0 win in Hempstead last season, while Sunday will be the first meeting between the Pride and the Eagles since 1998, which was a 3-1 win for American.
