Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team returns to Cindy Lewis Stadium for back-to-back non-conference home games, beginning on Friday, October 4, against #13 UAlbany, before hosting Columbia on Sunday October 6, for the program's Senior Day.
 
Opening whistle against the Great Danes is scheduled for 3 p.m., and Sunday's start against the Lions will be at 1 p.m. FloLive will carry the live stream of both games, and there will be live statistics on Friday and Sunday as well. Prior to Sunday's contest against Columbia, the Hofstra field hockey program will honor Heather Canavan, Simryn Desai, Efremia Geralis, Karissa Hough, Adrianna Losiak, Tara McNally, Pieke Roos, and Arden Wojtach in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.
 
Hofstra dropped a 4-0 result at Delaware last Friday in CAA action, dropping the Pride to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play one month through the season. Pieke Roos made eight saves between the posts for the Pride against Delaware.
 
UAlbany enters Friday ranked 13th in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll with an 8-1 overall record following wins over UMass Lowell and #14 Liberty. Alison Smisdom takes the turf on Friday as the top scorer in the country with 15 goals to her name, and Floor de Ruiter leads all Division I with nine assists in nine games.
 
Columbia is 2-5 on the season after defeats to 15th-ranked Princeton and Wagner this past week. Leading the Lions in scoring is Lindsey Yu with two goals.
 
Hofstra holds all-time records of 1-11 against UAlbany and 11-10 versus Columbia. Hofstra suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Great Danes in Albany last season, while Sunday will be the first meeting against the Lions since a 5-1 defeat in 2018.
