Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra field hockey team returns to Cindy Lewis Stadium for back-to-back non-conference home games, beginning on Friday, October 4, against #13 UAlbany, before hosting Columbia on Sunday October 6, for the program's Senior Day.
Opening whistle against the Great Danes is scheduled for 3 p.m., and Sunday's start against the Lions will be at 1 p.m. FloLive will carry the live stream of both games, and there will be live statistics on Friday and Sunday as well. Hofstra dropped a 4-0 result at Delaware last Friday in CAA action, dropping the Pride to 2-6 overall and 0-2 in league play one month through the season.
Pieke Roos made eight saves between the posts for the Pride against Delaware.
UAlbany enters Friday ranked 13th in the latest Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll with an 8-1 overall record following wins over UMass Lowell and #14 Liberty. Alison Smisdom takes the turf on Friday as the top scorer in the country with 15 goals to her name, and Floor de Ruiter leads all Division I with nine assists in nine games.
Columbia is 2-5 on the season after defeats to 15th-ranked Princeton and Wagner this past week. Leading the Lions in scoring is Lindsey Yu with two goals.
Hofstra holds all-time records of 1-11 against UAlbany and 11-10 versus Columbia. Hofstra suffered a 4-0 defeat to the Great Danes in Albany last season, while Sunday will be the first meeting against the Lions since a 5-1 defeat in 2018.
