Hempstead, NY - Hofstra's Isabella Gerena and Abraham Longosiwa have been named the Coastal Athletic Association Women's and Men's Runner of the Week, it was announced earlier today by the conference office. Both members of the Pride earned the recognition after impressive finishes this past weekend at the METS Championships hosted by NJIT in Newark, New Jersey.

Gerena, a freshman from Sayville, New York, placed ninth in the women's 5K race with a time of 18:28.08 to lead the Pride to a sixth-place team finish. 

A native of Eldoret, Kenya, Longosiwa took the individual title in the men's 8K race with a time of 23:29.99. The junior was the first-ever individual champion for Hofstra at the METS Championships.

The Hofstra women's and men's cross country teams will return to action on November 1 for the Coastal Athletic Association Cross Country Championships in Elon, North Carolina.
