Hempstead, NY - Hofstra graduate student Melissa Sconone was named to the 2024 U.S. Women's Box Training Team, it was announced on Tuesday by USA Lacrosse.
The team will participate in three training camps this fall as it continues preparation for the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships in Utica. N.Y. This is the first time that World Lacrosse has hosted a women's championship in box lacrosse.
The U.S. women's box team training camps will all be held at St. Luke's Sport Center in Whitehall, Pa., on the weekends of Nov. 4-5, Dec. 2-3 and Dec. 16-17.
Sconone, a graduate transfer from the University of North Carolina, played in 65 career games for the Tar Heels. She totaled 73 career points on 35 goals and 38 assists, while also adding eight ground balls.
A native of East Islip, New York, Sconone had 26 points on 13 goals and 13 assists last season at UNC.
