Emily Mansur made an important announcement today as junior
Beatriz Alves and redshirt senior
Sarah Pierre will serve as captains for the Pride this season.
"I am so proud of the continued leadership that Beatriz and Sarah have shown," commented Mansur. "They are both strong leaders on and off the court and I look forward to them leading the way for our program this season."
Alves, one of the top setters in program history, is in her third season at Hofstra and is coming off a season in which she was named the CAA Setter of the Year as well as an All-CAA First Team selection. Currently 10th all-time in program history with 2,123 career assists, Alves has played in 58 matches during her career and also had totals of 183 kills, 70 service aces, 437 digs, and 107 blocks.
Pierre, the longest-tenured member of the Pride, is now in her fifth season at Hofstra. The Pride top defensive player, she has played in 57 matches during her career and amassed 211 kills and 246 digs. Last season she had 134 kills and 118 blocks, leading the Pride in blocks.
